Hey everyone,
We work so much better when we're together!
This past week we talked about the church and it's history,
how it came to be, and how it split into so many different denominations.
The United Methodist Church, which we are a part of today, was formed from the joining of three main denominations.
The Episcopal Church
The Evangelical United Brethren Church
and The Methodist Church
These three churches were split for many social reasons and disagreements. However, they realized in 1968 that they would be stronger together, "United" in Christ, to spread the gospel.
Do United Methodists agree on everything? NO WAY?
But we do agree on what's important -
God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit,
Serving God and neighbor,
and accepting and responding to God's grace in our lives.
On these things we are "United".
Do all the good you can
By all the means you can
In all the ways you can
In all the places you can
At all the times you can
To all the people you can
As long as you ever can
